Hey folks, I hope you're all doing well and enjoying the start of the holiday season!
Here at Paws Here we've had some wonderful news - Paws Here bunny Basil has won the Burgess Wetnose Rescue Story of the Year Award! It's a huge recognition of the work we do to turn around the most hopeless-seeming cases of neglect and abuse, and a testament to how hard we work to never put an animal down if there's an option to give them a fighting chance.
However, right now the shelter is struggling. This season is always difficult for us, but this year we are stretched almost to breaking point. Due to the staggering costs of vet treatment, coupled with the demands placed on us of being beyond maximum capacity thanks to several recent emergency cases, we have reached a point where the future has become uncertain.
In recent weeks we have had emergency surrenders brought in where the owners have refused to pay our rehoming fee, which they had previously agreed to donate, meaning that the cost of feeding, housing, vet checking, vaccinating, neutering etc has had to be entirely met by the shelter. These people have no problem with deceiving and depriving of money a struggling animal rescue at Christmas. At times like this it feels like it would be easy to give up, to lose faith in humanity all together. But I know that there are good people out there! I know that we can continue to make a difference!
We now need to raise around £900 or Paws Here will be unable to continue. This feels like a truly staggering figure, however if every one of our supporters contributed £10 we would be there!
I know this is a difficult time for everyone, but if any of you can spare anything, even a pound, it will massively help the shelter to stay alive.
We want to continue with the good work we're doing. We ourselves are putting everything we have into making this work.
Please help us.
You can make a donation to the rescue here.
Thank you.
